We Want Lava

It all begins with an idea. Fresh out of New York, Alf Delia, an avid newspaper afficionado, finds humor in the Oregonian headlines featuring the tempting and teasing ejection of “5 foot blocks of ice” and plumes of steam with ash and boulders. Not realizing the fact that a Mt. St Helen’s eruption could bear no similarity to Krakatoa or Kilauea as concerns molten lava flow, We Want Lava comes flowing out of this over active brain while eating eggs at a cool little diner on the corner of 10th and Everett in Portland, Oregon. The actual eruption was devastating and this lighthearted take on the news was cut off by the broadcast media because of the death of Harry Truman and 56 others. There were two recordings, one with Alf Delia and Mary Holliday. This was immediately followed by the published version by The Beaver Trail Boys. It was quite a production and a very nice recording in the western swing style.
